Gallagher booed off Brown's Manchester gig
(Thorsten, 2004/10/26, 11:54 Uhr) Oasis star Noel Gallagher stormed off stage during a recent concert in his home city - after disgruntled fans threw bottles and booed at the shocked singer.

The Don't Look Back in Anger rocker had hoped to surprise fans by making a surprise appearance at ex-Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown's gig, to perform their duet Keep What Ya Got at the Apollo Manchester, Britain.

Gallagher was horrified by the crowd's inhospitable reaction but Brown rescued the concert by telling off the fans and dragging Gallagher back onto the stage to finish the show.

One fan says: "The gig was fantastic, until Noel spat out his dummy. He came on as a surprise guest but he was booed and a pint was chucked at him and went all over his guitar. The Ian made some comment about how Noel is his hero and that we should show him some respect."

A Universal Records spokesman contends: "Noel said somebody threw a half-pint of lager on him and it went all over his jacket and guitar. So he went off to give his jacket to a roadie. Ian went to see why Noel had stopped playing, so that's why he walked off as well."

Gallagher And Albarn Confirmed For Band Aid
(Thorsten, 2004/10/22, 13:38 Uhr) Following earlier reports that Coldplay, Travis and The Darkness have been approached to feature on a new re-recording of the Band Aid hit 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' comes the news that Brit Pop's two biggest arch rivals will both be taking part.

For weeks, rumours have been circulating that a new version of the song is being planned featuring a whole host of current acts (the third time the single has been released). In fact, bookies were already making it odds-on favourite to top the Christmas charts before the single's release was confirmed.

Whereas the original version was coordinated by Sir Bob Geldof, this time co-founder of Band Aid, Midge Ure will be acting as executive producer on the record and has been trying to assemble the artists.

While some reports claim Coldplay, Travis, The Darkness and Jamelia are already confirmed, Ure has just stated in an interview with 6Music that two of the UK music scenes biggest stars, Oasis' Noel Gallagher and Blur's Damon Albarn will be putting aside their differences to appear on the track.

Midge went on to confirm that Band Aid III will be happening in an undisclosed London studio sometime in the next few weeks with Radiohead, Beck and Travis producer Nigel Godrich handling production duties.

Robbie Williams, Keane and Dido have all been approached and Midge also explained that he intends to get Bono from U2 to re-sing his line "Well tonight, thank God it's them, instead of you..." from the original 1984 version of the song.

The Race For Christmas No. 1 Starts Here
(Thorsten, 2004/10/19, 15:33 Uhr) Bookies have opened betting on which song is going to make it to Number 1 at Christmas, with Band Aid proving the favourite (even though there has been no official confirmation that the single will be released at all) and Ricky Gervais and Noel Gallagher not far behind.

Bookies Ladbrokes have reported that there has been a huge gamble on a 2004 release of the Band Aid song 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' reaching Number 1 at Christmas, even though there has only been rumours that the single will even get a release.

A new reports states that the odds have plunged in recent days from 33/1 to 16/1 to 12/1 and its now a potential single is odds-on favourite at 4/6 for top spot.

Ladbrokes spokesman Warren Lush: "There is certainly a rumour going around as punters have been trying to bet as much money as they can on a Band Aid single getting to number one at Christmas. One punter even tried to stake £10,000. We have been inundated with requests and have no choice but to make it the red hot odds-on favourite."

"There is no official word on whether a single will be released but money screams that there is something going on behind the scenes. Do they know it's going to be released in time for a crack at Christmas number one?"

"It was at this time last year that we first started seeing money for Michael Andrews (featuring Gary Jules) ['Mad World'] but the gamble then was nowhere near as big as it is now."

Elsewhere in the list are U2 (20/1), Ronan Bloody Keating and Cat Stevens (6/1) and Ricky Gervais and Noel Gallagher's version of 'Free Love Freeway' taken from the new DVD of 'The Office' slips in at 5th place, even thought Gervais has denied that he won't release the song either.

The full list of odds for Christmas Number One from Ladbrokes is:
 1. Band Aid (4/6)
 2. Ronan Keating and Cat Stevens (6/1)
 3. U2 (20/1)
 4. Robbie Williams (20/1)
 5. Ricky Gervais and Noel Gallagher (25/1)
 6. Take That (25/1)
 7. Westlife (25/1)
 8. Girls Aloud (25/1)
 9. Ice Cube (25/1)
 10. Peter Kay and Tony Christie (25/1)
 11. Kylie Minogue (25/1)
 12. Busted (33/1)
 13. Goldie Lookin' Chain (33/1)
 14. Nadia Almada (33/1)
 15. Paul Holt (33/1)

Informationen aus erster Hand, also!

Oasis, Stone Roses legends join Ian Brown
(Thorsten, 2004/10/19, 13:35 Uhr) MADCHESTER REUNITED

IAN BROWN was joined by NOEL GALLAGHER and old bandmate MANI onstage at the MANCHESTER APOLLO last night.

The ex-Stone Roses singer performed the gig (October 18) as part of his solo tour to support his current album 'Solarized'. However, in addition to his own songs, Brown performed many Roses classics - the first time he's done it in his home town in almost a decade.

During the encore Gallagher came onto the stage and helped Brown on recent single 'Keep What Ya Got'. The Oasis man co-wrote the song, and provided backing vocals and lead guitar.

Later in the set, Brown went to the side of the stage, and persuaded Mani, who played bass with Brown in the Roses to come out and take a bow. The bassist had been spotted earlier in the night prompting speculation he would perform some songs live, but that didn't come to pass.

"Let's have a big hand for Mani", Brown smiled. "Mani's in the house!"

The audience then went crazy as the pair hugged and waved.

For the final encore Brown was joined on stage by DJ James Lavelle, and did the two songs he recorded with UNKLE - 'Be There' and 'R.E.I.G.N'.

The setlist ran:
 • 'Destiny Of Circumstance'
 • 'Sally Cinnamon'
 • '(Song For My) Sugar Spun Sister'
 • 'Where Angels Play'
 • 'Waterfall'
 • 'Made Of Stone'
 • 'She Bangs The Drums'
 • 'Golden Gaze'
 • 'Love Like A Fountain'
 • 'If Dolphins Were Monkeys'
 • 'Longsight M13'
 • 'The Sweet Fantastic'
 • 'Forever And A Day'
 • 'Time Is My Everything'
 • 'F.E.A.R'
 • 'I Wanna Be Adored'
 • 'Love Bug'
 • 'Keep What Ya Got'
 • 'Be There'
 • 'R.E.I.G.N.'

Oasis and The Streets join the stars at Zutons London gig
(Thorsten, 2004/10/11, 18:18 Uhr) Zuton fever spreads

A star-studded audience turned out in force to see THE ZUTONS perform for a triumphant gig in LONDON over the weekend.

Har Mar Superstar, Noel Gallagher, members of The Streets, Elbow, The Music, and Gorillaz were there to see the Scouse five-piece play Shepherd's Bush Empire.

The Mercury Music Prize nominees ditched their yellow boiler suits for the night and performed a series of hits from their debut album including 'Zuton Fever', 'Havana Gang Brawl', 'Long Time Coming' and 'Pressure Point'.

The biggest cheers came for hit singles 'Remember Me' and 'You Will You Won't', which singer Dave McCabe dedicated to the crowd.

The Scouse five-piece also played forthcoming single 'Don't Ever Think' and new track 'Weekend Scrub' which McCabe said was dedicated to saxophonist Abi Harding.

As the band left the stage they received a standing ovation from the crowd.

Speaking before the show, drummer Sean Payne told NME.COM: "We have been looking forward to this gig loads. It's been weird getting used to the big places, because we have been used to playing festivals and playing in America. So coming back here is a bit crazy, but it's good though."

The Zutons are due to play two consecutive homecoming Christmas shows at Liverpool's Royal Court on December 17 and 18.

"We don't know if we'll be swapping the boiler suits for some Santa outfits. But it is Christmas so it could happen I reckon," Sean joked.

The band's UK tour will continue tomorrow night (October 12) in Northampton.

Gallagher: Be here now is 's**t'
(Thorsten, 2004/10/11, 13:12 Uhr) Oasis songwriter Noel Gallaher has slammed his band's 1997 album Be Here Now as "s**t" and the result of his cocaine habit.

Gallagher, who has since cleaned up, claims Be Here Now was sub-standard because the band were allowed as much time as they pleased and were granted access to anything they wanted.

Speaking on this weekend's TV show UK Music Hall of Fame, to be aired on Channel 4, he says: "Good times don't make for good music. All the good music's made in the bad times.

"Definitely Maybe - written, unemployed; recorded, broke. Same with Morning Glory - recorded, broke, in twelve days.

"Be Here Now - three months, anything you want, s**t.

"Although I never listen to it, I kind of like the fact that it's there if I ever want to go and listen to a soundtrack to my own cocaine, overweight, alcoholic madness."

Wonder loaf, eh Liam?
(Thorsten, 2004/10/01, 11:30 Uhr)

All over the shop ... Liam

LIAM GALLAGHER went searching for his daily bread yesterday.

The OASIS frontman, whose hits include Wonderwall, was spotted swaggering around his local Tesco in North West London with girlfriend NICOLE APPLETON and son GENE.

Smelling the roses ... stepping
out with Nicole and Gene

His other kid, LENNON, was nowhere to be seen.

But Liam was wearing his famous JOHN LENNON-style cap as a nod to his idol.

Sugar daddy ... happy families at Tesco

The singer stocked up with a loaf of Hovis white and a couple of yogurts.

As the sign says, it looks like the rock wildman has swopped lairy for dairy.
